risk of aspiration if done while sleeping Isabella would much rather eat like other children her age, but UnitedHealthCare won’t give her that chance She will not voluntarily take bites of food — she does not know how and it scares her We have tried to force her to eat – But Isabella’s aversion to food is so severe; she will do anything to avoid eating She will cover her face, clench her teeth, turn her head away, gag, and vomit It’s not pretty, is it? We do this 4 times a day, every day. …

in the 1940′s and 50′s to be a public servant ment that you made less money than the average construction worker. pre paid health care should have been started then.. now you would have to get those same public servants to give up there $200,000.00 a year salry.

    inspiring video.

  7. latoyaevon says:

Yes. UHC is a good company.
However, if you have to pay %50 of the premiums you may be better off with your own individual policy because an individual policy costs less (depending on what state you live in) and, you own the policy! With a group plan, when you leave your job you also leave your insurance.

. Here is info from the wiki site:
"….In 2006, the Securities and Exchange Commission began investigating the conduct of United Health's management and directors, as did the Internal Revenue Service and prosecutors in the U.S. attorney's office for the Southern District of New York, who have subpoenaed documents from the company. The investigations came to light after a series of probing stories in the Wall Street Journal in May 2006, discussing apparent backdating of hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of stock optionsby United Health management. The backdating apparently occurred with the knowledge and approval of the directors, according to the Journal. Major shareholders have filed lawsuits accusing former New Jersey governor Thomas Kean and UHC's other directors of failing in their fiduciary duty.[1][2] On 15 October 2006, Dr. McGuire was forced to resign, and relinquish hundreds of millions of dollars in stock options.

The American Chiropractic Association has filed a national class action lawsuit against ACN, ( American Chiropractic Network) which is owned by United Healthcare and administers chiropractic benefits, and United Healthcare for alleged practices in violation of the federal RICO act. " …
…The Wall Street Journal say Goldman/Sacks just UPgraded the UNH stock. I see it bottomed out around $45.
I think it's a typical large company. They use their imagination with their book-keeping. You're nothing but a number, BUT if you behave yourself, you'll make some $$. .

My uncle is a doctor and he sees also kids like your daughter.
    Cue and a sad vid

  14. No I don’t judge. But this poor mom is going through hell right now and she doesn’t need people like you saying “Be Thankful your child has health insurance”and I’m sure she’s thankful to see her child laugh and kiss and hug her. Maybe she should be Thankful for being denied too right!!!!

  15. Obviously the one below has never had to battle an insurance company so that their child could SURVIVE!!!!

  16. gymnast31197 says:

  18. be thankful your child has health care at all. be thankful you’ve seen her smile, heard her laugh, felt her hugs and kisses. i’m not saying don’t fight like hell to win this battle. just remember every second, every moment with her is special, and be thankful. that’s more than nothing.

If he didn't enroll in this plan originally then I would say that the enrollment is fraudulent, but it can take a very long time to maneuver through the medicare red tape. Tell your sister to ask Rexall for the original sign up date and the supporting paperwork. She can also file a complaint about Rexall with medicare if the enrollment is fraudulent.

If, however, he did enroll at one time in the plan, then re-enrollment is automatic and he would have had to cancel the plan for 2007 by the end of 2006. This is common knowledge for the medicare part d program and your sister should have kept herself informed.

I helped my grandmother with her prescriptions and medicare part d plan, and they sent so much mail and email advising of the re-enrollment, it would have been hard to miss – the warnings of re-enrollment for non-action were very clear.

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

As a claims specialist for UHC, I will at admit this is an absolute outrage and this literally makes me sick to my stomach. To the family and friends, and Isabella herself I am so very sorry what you are going through. If I can be of any help to you, please let me know. I will be as much assistance as possible. And for “tehghettopirate” in your next life maybe you should keep yourself more healthy. To the parents, family, friends, and dear Isabella, my prayers are with you. Good luck!

  21. TomW says:

Call youir local FBI field office and the State Insurance Commissioner, State Managed Care Director, Attorney General and the Governor's office and ask. They should be. Those health plans are nothing but rips offs. They cover less than they did 10 years ago and reimburse less than they did on surgeries 10- years ago.

I know, I just had the same foot surgery on one side as I did in 1996!
Blue Cross paid 4,216 in 1996 and 1475 for the other foot in Jan 2009!!!!

  22. Critermo says:

I feel your pain my son has vision issues his muscels in his eyes don’t focus his lens fast enough to read also tunnel vision double vision etc. UHC denied his treatment at the only facility over an hour from my home because they we not in network. A nurse told me that if there are no drs close in net they had to allow out of net. We fought it & WON! But because of the hold up he was 4 years behind in school by then. Now 1yr post treatment & 1 yr from High School he is almost at grade level.

  23. StefaniLynG says:

Thank you for your suggestion. I just sent her an email.

  24. What a beautiful, courageous little girl. My prayers go out to her and her family.

  25. Again you jump to conclusions before READING what I said. I know she’s going through hell. The point is sometimes you get so caught up in the fight that you forget the reason you’re fighting. And at the end of the day if, God forbid, this child doesn’t make it I know all her mom is going to wish for is one more hug, smile and I love you. So be thankful that today you have those moments becaause it’s never enough.

  26. KatieChee says:

You have a beautiful daughter!! It makes me mad as hell to hear what Isabella and THOUSANDS of other Americans are going through because our country and government does NOT take care of it’s people! Every politician is OWNED by the Pharmaceutical Companies and until that is changed we will NEVER know the kind of health security that is enjoyed by Canadians, Cubans, and other countries who care for their people! God Bless you and your daughter! Good luck! I agree to contacting the media!

  27. Your best option is to call the phone number on your card. They can tell you based specifically on the plan your employer purchased and what requirements (if any) that you must meet (pre-certification or pre-authorization).

  28. rjbeaman2007 says:

i give it 5 stars, and am posting to my favorites list.

  29. what program did you use to make this beautiful slideshow

  31. Jordan M says:

It depends if you are asking about the full time admin people, or the part timers that work in the retail stores. If you are asking about the retail clerks, I believe they have an Aetna SRC mini-med plan. Otherwise, it’s a Starbridge mini-med plan, which was recently bought by CIGNA. Premiums will run about $40 a month, but coverage is very limited.

  32. THfanJassy says:

i had an esophageal atresia too and i´m sure she´ll make it like i made it. its possible to get a “normal” life with it although eating´s hard…

    i wish u the best

  33. Mere Mortal says:

Yes, it's referred to as COBRA. Generally, you can extend your group coverage pursuant to COBRA for 18 months after you leave employment, provided you pay the full premium, plus an administrative fee (which your employer is entitled to charge).

For more information about COBRA, go here: http://www.dol.gov/ebsa/faqs/faq_consumer_cobra.html

  34. It’s obvious that you make judgements about people without knowing a single thing about them. How do you know i’ve never battled with insurance companies? Do you realize I can’t get insurance anywhere due to my own poor health. Did you even read what I wrote? I said be thankful she made it into this world. I never said to give up fighting, in fact I said to keep fighting like hell. Why do I get hated for saying to make every second special with that little girl because that’s what she needs??

  35. Salvador A says:

I work for BCBS, I would recommend viewing the contract for both plans and suiting the one that fits your needs the best.
