Here this nice Video about health insurance
Buy the DVD: www.shoppbs.org BMJL4306_052209:N:DGR:N:N:609:QPBS Washington’s abuzz about health care, but why isn’t a single-payer plan an option on the table? Public Citizen’s Dr. Sidney Wolfe and Physicians for a National Health Program’s Dr. David Himmelstein on the political and logistical feasibility of health care reform.

We sure don’t need a single payer plan it is failing in Canada and the UK.
NO PUBLIC PLAN!
My god are you people crazy a single payer plan will make our taxes skyrocket and i know in PA where i am we will lose 700 thousand to a million jobs imagine that all over the country.
Make health care better don’t let big government run it off the cliff!
Single payer is code words for Government healthcare. Get the Government out of our lives please… Jimmy Carter? The most Failed president in US history….
For real !!
Do something constructive. Write/call your state representatives, the leader of the Senate, Speaker of the House, and President Obama; tell one and all not to fear the health care industry and that you want Single Payer Health Insurance. They are in office to serve The People not the health care industry.
It’s immoral that the US has conived with those bastards to manipulate the health care system…Definitely, they are IN BED with the health care industry and not only, they are high maintenance lovers, pouring into their pockets billions of dollars.Medication in this country is the HIGHEST on the world, after all they do have to spend 3 billion dollars/year to advertise and make sure ppl get more ad more sick.SHAME
Are you sure you want the government out of your life, you might want to rethink that, especially after you turn 65.
This is a great video. Single payer health care is definitely what we need in this country. It is time to throw the lobbyists out with the garbage. We are not an ethical moral nation if we allow our own people to be without good and affordable health care.
Dr. Reinhardt of Duke Medical also spoke last November before the Senate Finance Committe hearing on health care reform and stated that Duke Medical has 900 billing clerks. The hospital has 900 beds. He doubted that there are 900 doctors and nurses — a 1 : 1 ration, but for biling there was.
Agree 100%!
I think capitalism rocks. Does great good for all of us.
But that doesn’t mean the profit motive applies well for EVERYTHING. Organizational profit needs to be taken out of the equation for health care. The private insurance system for funding health care is a misguided, broken, amoral MESS.
It’s not “socialism” to let the government take care of the right things. No one sane thinks a privatized military is a good idea. Applies to health care, too.
Time for a change.
Yes, AINouveau what you said is absolutely correct! Americans just do not want to believe that they are so far behind when it comes to health care. Yet there are so many that are living the nightmare of being uninsured. Or getting improper treatment.
And all that listed is considered EVOL if it’s done by the GUVINMET paid to similar workers!! by conservatives who think shysters stealing sick people’s money is capitalism and financial opportunity…to cheat and steal!
Bob Doyle, Newt Gingrich, Insurance Corps & Drug Manufacturers lobbyists blocked Hilary Clinton’s Health Plan.
They Republicans who controlled the entire Congress consented only on the S-CHIP Bill as a compromise…but in 2009, the Republicans opposed the expansion of that same S-CHIP … but were defeated by the Democratic Majority.
I am totaly embarrassed by our government and about Max Baccus position on a government sponsored Universal health Insurance. It can and it shall be past for the good and the future of our country. Anyone who votes against it shall be voted against in the coming elections. Thank you Mr. Bill Moyers for showing us the truth we trust you!
Public health is being traded at wall street for profit, is the biggest crime committed by our elected officials against “We The People”.
We gave House, Senate & Presidency, What stops you Obama? Did you forget your personal stories?
So you have no problem that the U.S. has higher infant mortality rates than Cuba, Slovenia, Croatia and 28 other countries? Countries that have national health care for they’re citizens. You throw out National Socialist Party like it means something. But you don’t really know shit. What it means is that youve become a shill for the health insurance companies, HMO’s and morally corrupt Politicians on both sides of the isle and you dont even know it.
Health insurance is the number one reason US businesses are uncompetitive in the world market. Conservatives think just because your employer pays your health insurance its free, wrong. The cost of insurance is passed on to you and me with every thing we buy, $3000 dollars on a new car just to cover worker health insurance, and soon they off shore jobs to get around health care for workers and good bye job and insurance
Then you should have voted for Kucinich! besides, only 6k troops died over a 6 year span of the war, in the same time, 120 americans died here at home just because they lack access to healthcare. How long are we going to allow them to rip us off, its time to get mad. lets all do something about it instead of just hoping and wishing.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING for single payer?
Civic services are not commodity for profit.
Like water, sewer, library, fire station, public transportation, parks, clean environment, Eduction etc.
Health of citizens is one of them. Healthy citizenry make stronger country.
Public health in the hands of ” for profit Private company”, what an irony?
CITIZEN’S HEALTH IS NOT A COMMODITY. STOP THIS “DRUG” CRIME.
PBS stands for Public BS liberal media
Good information, mae1958.
It’s time to get rid of the leech insurance industry that is causing the great health care crisis in this country. A single payer health care plan will save billions of dollars and provide health care to everyone, not just rich people. Wake up America and demand universal health care without insurance companies.
Okay, jkiene. Keep your private insurer, if that’s what you want. However, there are millions and millions of Americans with NO COVERAGE OF ANY KIND. They are not all ‘po’ folk,’ either. Many more who are ‘covered’ find, when they become seriously ill, are denied benefits.
This matter is harming the productivity of our nation.
Yet we spent (me and you, too, if you pay your taxes) 800 bill on defense FY 08 alone and will spend 1 trill FY 09. If we can kill for a trill, we can help, too.
USA is a corrupt government, and needs to be violently overthrown. That is the only way the will of the people can prevail over special interest money and influence.
I worked in health care for many years. I enjoyed working for a non-profit county hospital. The patient care was excellent because all hospital health care workers were involved in decision making to get the patients well quickly and save money for the county. I’ve also worked at “for profit” hospitals. Totally different. We were worked short handed constantly and forced to give unnecessary treatments without questioning. I’ve seen the greed and corruption of the “for profit” health care system.
