I used to work as a production manager for several television shows. Talk about pulling 20 hours a day for several days!

It was a fun and challenging job. However, the stress was still there due to crazy hours and a very screwed up and illogical boss that pulled tantrums out of nowhere. I finally got over that deal and went to do a lesser position in another company. All just to get away from the stress. It was one of the nicest decisions I 've made!

So don't feel bad about what you want to do. You may take a hit on your paycheck but the health benefits will be much greater. When you are young, you do not feel the health issues. However, after a few years, you will notice the toll it takes and you might not came back again to how you used to be health wise.

So IMHO, screw the job and whomever says anything. Get yourself a job that wont screw your health. Trust me.

Good Luck!

Depression is a serious condition; and studies show that everybody all over the world experience it. It affects people of all ages, race, cultures and social status. I heard that 4 out of 10 people suffer from it at some point or another in their life.

From what you wrote, I think your hunch is right. Just to make sure, though, I would ask you to read more about depression and its symptoms.

Personally, it does sound like your husband has some of the classical ones, by the way...Insomnia, weight loss, sadness, the feeling of "numbness" all spell out danger and problems. Please do not ignore these red flags. Your husband is ill....but he is in denial.

The sad part here is that many times the sick person- your husband, in this case- is unwilling to accept he has a serious problem...and he won't get any better if he doesn't seek help. He needs to see his doctor and he needs to start taking anti-depressants as well. (Anti-depressants take about two weeks to start to kick in.)

See if you can talk to him ...or have his family join you and tell him that he needs to get professional help and meds. He shouldn't feel guilty or bad about this...Depression is an illness; and many times it happens because our brains have some kind of chemical unbalance.

Take care of yourself. Be careful....Living with a depressed person is tough. But living with a depressed person who refuses to get help in order to get better is even sadder and more stressful!

Good luck. Remember...You can take the water to the drinking hole; but you cannot make it drink.

Weight loss demons are from the same class of mythical beings as the belly button lint fairy (the fairy that puts the grey/blue lint in your belly button, regardless of the shirt colour your wearing) and the spew carrot fairy (the fairy that puts carrots in your vomit regardless of what you've eaten). Also see poo corn fairy.
