To be clear, there were 2 central points in my post:

1) I support a single payer system in the US.

2) No system can provide all care for everyone all the time without some form of rationing.

The “story” I recounted was more direct then you suggest. The specific scenario was a friend’s father who had a serious knee problem (blue collar worker) that limited his mobility and ability to work. According to his daughter he waited 21 months and then came to the US for the MRI and the surgery.

Sad… You see this is why we need a goverment run healt hcare… it is broken in this country … even if you are covered. my mother was covered but that did not stop the doctors from refusing to opperate on her because the coverage was low and the brain surgery was very expensive… she died 2 weeks later.. thats why I HATE DOCTORS THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY NOWADAYS…
