How Can I Get Free Health Insurance?

Many children, families and adults qualify for free- or low-cost health insurance, and they don’t even know it! Your ability to get these state- and federally-sponsored medical programs is usually based on the size of your family and your income.
These programs vary state-by-state, so it’s important to check with your local government offices. However, many of the plans share similar qualifiers. Some groups of people that commonly qualify for low- or no-cost health coverage include:
1. Children and young adults under 19 years of age. Youth programs are common throughout the United States, and often include dental, vision and mental health or substance abuse counseling in addition to basic medical coverage.
2. Pregnant women. Available through Medicaid – and often through state departments of health – you can qualify depending on your income and family size.
3. Seniors 65 years of age and over. People in this category are usually covered by Medicare, a health insurance program of the federal government.
4. Disabled People. If you’re permanently disabled, there’s a good chance you can qualify for Medicare.
5. Immigrants Needing Emergency Care. If you have a medical emergency, you might be eligible for a state-funded Alien Emergency Medical Program (AEM) which can pay for your emergency care. To be eligible for most states’ AEMs, you must be low income, have an emergency medical condition, and be: under 18, or have dependent children, or be older than 64, or disabled, or pregnant.
In addition, many states and sometimes the federal government will cover your costs for specific medical procedures and/or services. These programs are often partnerships between state health departments and national organizations like the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta. These services might include things like:
1. Mammograms
2. Pap Smears
3. End-Stage Renal Disease
4. Birth Control
As we’ve said before, programs like these vary state-by-state, so it’s important to check with your state or local health department.

Find your answer for your own question related to department of health
Does the state health department work at the national or state level?I know this is a stupid question, but just because something is at the level of a state department it doesn't always mean they work for the state. So does the state health department work to protect health at the national, or state level?

I think it is fair to provide healtcare for those that CANNOT work. I am not talking about those who don't want to work. For those that can work, we should have a scale. You can't just set an income scale or bracket. In my state (2 bedroom apartment rents for $1550) you can't live on $60K a year with a family that has 2 children. In some others you can. So here is the fair plan.
- We set a local income scale based on average living expenses in a local. Probably by county.
-The Fed subsidizes it by a percentage up to the cap for what is consider poor based on the scale.
-Everyone buys commercial insurance if they want it and get a tax break for doing so. Those the are under the cap, get a subsidy.
-The government negotiates for best prices with the big providers, and there is a discount that is good for all. (Like Massachusetts)
This way, for those that can self-insure, are Christian Science or friends of Ron Hubbard, they are not forced ot have it. If you need it and want it, it is affordable. And if you priorities are a new HD TV and car that you can't afford, and not insurance, don't get sick.
Yes, employers can pretty much do whatever they choice as far as how much benefits that they provide.
With the cost of everything going up, employers are considering cost, and they are making employees pay for some of the cost of their medical benefits. Many, many, companies are following the same trend.
With a lot of people out of work, you have to consider the fact that you are employed, and go ahead a pay the cost of the medical.
You can always decide to look for another job, but you won't find too many companies that provide medical 100%.
I was in a Iowa hospital last week for a broken arm. Nice staff, very helpful. Try to contact a Indiana staff member to help you. http://www.communityhospitalcenter.com/Indiana-Hospitals.html
i look for website and found this health insuranse website
Medicaid is for poeple just like you in that same situation, They offer healthcare for you until you give birth then its family planning only, and they offer free health insurance for your child until they are 19 as long as your income allows. Go to the medicaid website for your state and you can apply online.
Of course, the insurance is not "free" because someone is paying for it. In Canada, there is a combined 15% provincial-federal sales and services tax, and income taxes and gasoline taxes are higher too, so don't worry, my dear Canadian friends, you are paying for your health care, one way or the other. The main problem with government-run health insurance, and government-run anything, is that it tends to be inefficient. As Canadian Prime Minister Harper has acknowledged, wait times in Canada are often excessive.
The free market generally sorts things out better and more efficiently than bureaucratic dictates from on high. We need to regulate the health insurance companies, and establish standards for their operation, but we also need to retain the incentives of the free market. For these reasons, I am opposed to national health insurance.
No such thing as 'free' insurance. Even Medicaid and them aren't technically free- your taxes go into it. My advice would be to look up some diabetic support groups, they might be able to hook you up with donations until you can get a job that'll provide insurance.
carebear, Health insurance can be very tricky. Since I'm from Idaho I'm not sure about California regulations, so I suggest you visit a nearby insurance agent. http://www.goodinternetdeals.com/Health-Insurance.html They will be able to help you.
Grant, your arguments are going to fall on deaf ears.
Anyone one who thinks that more and more entitlements are going to put an end to the third and fourth generation welfare recipients might just want to stop for a moment and ask themselves why there are third and fourth generation welfare recipients in the first place – that logic will never cross a liberals mind, and neither will the premise of your question – you're just an uncaring, cold hearted and ruthless conservative.
it may be free but not better..some people are on waiting lists for a simple MRI for months while here in America we pay but can get it done the next day..
go see ur social services office and ask them the question — remember all public hospitals MUST treat u by law
there's no such thing as a free lunch… Maybe your parents have health insurance you can get in on. Or you college may offer health insurance for a fee but the good news is getting school loans is easy and they're the best type of loan to pay back. My job gives me free health insurance but it's not really free as I have to go into work every day.
If it's serious get it treated waiting will just make things worse.
~~Most universities offer students medical care. Speak to your school counselor to find out what you qualify for.~~
You have to take car of them , now death row is a differnet matter but they stay too long, if exectuions were carried out with in six months, that would reduce costs, for the short timers or non lifers like I said you have to keep caring for their health, its a biach but they do work for nothing, and if not you have to let them out
There is no fast way. You have to seek government help. They have to findout if you're eligible. Go to canada. hehe

Since you are still able to work, I do not think you'll be able to qualify. If your doctor is unable to accept Medicaid, then you may want to find a new doctor if you can qualify for Medicaid.
You want COBRA, rather than your own individual policy, because it still is a "group" policy which cannot be terminated (except for non-payment of benefits) whereas an individual policy can be terminated at any time.
Medicare – you have to be a certain age – and it still isn't free. Information about Medicare can be found here:

Are you currently working at another job? See if you can get put on a group health insurance policy.
There are many places to get an on-line quote. Here is another: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/ooshealth.html and I'm sure if you do an internet search you'll find many more.
You can get an idea of costs on-line, but there are hundreds of plans available and how do you know if you've choosen the best one for your situation? It'll take you several days to intelligently compare all the plans available. Also, if you have any pre-existing conditions that might add a rider to the policy, cause you to be declined, or if you are out of the height and weight guidelines you won't know until you've applied and gone through the underwriting process which is a big waste of time. You should contact a local independent agent who can work with you to find the best policy and will weed out the plans that won't accept you because of any health condition or will not cover you to your expectations. The plans and premiums are no different using an agent.
OK, that's welfare insurance, aka Medicaid.
I know that the free hospital here in Houston, I wouldn't go into with a ten foot pole. But hey, it's free – beggers can't be choosers.
Nothing "given" by the government is "free".
Government cannot, and does not, create wealth or earn money on it's own.
It has to take, by force, from others in order to "give" to those it deems "deserving" and grateful enough.
BTW- Tonalc2, there's one other group that is guaranteed "free healthcare", CONGRESS, aka,
The Parliament of Whores.
May I suggest to you Ameri Plan. They do not have any restrictions on pre-existing conditions and you can start saving immediately. There is a hospital advocacy program that assigns you a personal advocate to negotiate with doctors on your medical bills.
The plan also includes savings on dental, vision, prescription and chiropractic care. I'd check them out. I'm so proud to be with them. I know I shouldn't advertise, but your need sounds great. Let me know if you have any questions. wlakin@ameriplan.net

We are currently running a promotion for just the dental, vision, prescription and chiropractic plan where you can try it out for 3 months for $23 total. This is a great service. You should check it out!
Find out CHIPS in your state, Department of Health and Human services should be able direct in the right place.
Just go to the hospital. Explain the situation and they can give you a reduced rate and put you on a payment plan. Check out Tonik health insurance – it is through blue shield. I pay like 130 per month for very decent insurance. Good luck.
You aren't going to get free painkillers, that's for sure. It's based on your income. If you make too much money to qualify for your county's department of social services free clinic, then you have to pay out of pocket like a lot of people do.
You have to contact them and find out.
I want free stuff too!
Would Hillary's proposal to give $5,000 to every child born in the US be retroactive?
I like free stuff, I hope Hillary gets elected so the government gives me more reasons not to work anymore.
People also need transportation, homes and entertainment (for stress relief, which has been proven to be good for your health), so let's get those democrats elected, cause I think my transmission is starting to fail, and they are too expensive for me to be paying for.
Ding ding ding….you got it with the your last answer…..so much money is being spent on "the war on terror" and other political crap that could be being spent on national health care. H. Clinton (and others) have some really good ideas on universal healthcare….you should check them out.
Be honest,It is gonna take some time to find the answer for your question.Try to have a look the resource here
