Health Care Options For Seniors
Many seniors enjoy living in their own home with the freedom to do as they please. While some health problems may limit a senior’s ability to do so, with the right home health care, a senior can enjoy an independent life in the presence of illness or other health conditions. When a senior receives adequate health care, it can keep the senior out of a convalescent or nursing home.
For many seniors, just knowing that they will be allowed to recover at home will put them in better spirits, which is more conducive to faster healing. The goal of home health care is to provide the senior with any necessary treatment as the senior heals from an illness or injury in the home setting. Home health care concerns medical treatments and services would otherwise be done in a hospital or other health care setting. Home health care can include services such as nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, counseling, social services and speech therapy.
A doctor will prescribe home health care when the doctor feels that a patient may recover successfully at home. The doctor may order of services of a nurse, homemaker, physical therapist and a personal care worker as part of the home health care plan. Each of these personnel members would perform different tasks as the senior recovers.
The nurse would administer medications, give the patient dietary tips and would arrange any other treatments or services that are necessary. The homemaker would do the household chores, shopping and preparation of meals. The physical therapist would perform such services that would help the patient get their strength back. The personal care worker would help the patient move around their home, including such tasks as dressing, bathing and walking with the patient. The people who provide home health care services are usually licensed nurses, homemakers, therapists and personal care workers.
Many products can be purchased for the purpose of home health care. Not all the products are related to the patient’s body and instead are used to make the home safer for the patient. Such home health care product and services involves the modification of the outdoor steps, seating, inside walls, bath and shower. A walkway may be built or railings may be placed inside the home. Mobility equipment such as a cane or wheelchair may be required. Any necessary medical equipment may be rented before making a purchase as well.
Home health care services may be performed by a public, private or other organization that is devoted to these services. Home health care workers are checked by most states for criminal backgrounds. Not all states perform a background check. If a state does not perform these checks, it is up to the person hiring the services of a health care worker to make sure that their criminal record is clear.
Home health care is not the same service as home care for seniors. Generally, home care revolves around house cleaning and other chores at the house. Home health care involves medical treatments or those services that are required to help the patient recover.
Home health care allows a senior’s life to go on despite any injury or medical condition. A health problem does not automatically mean that a person has to be cooped up in a health care facility or nursing home. Patients that receive home health care are grateful for the opportunity to avoid the hospital or nursing home.

where are they being turned away, it is illegal to not treat a person in a life or death situation, they may not get the best treatment but they get it free most of the time because they have not intentions of paying it back and that my friends is why the cost of health care is so fucking high these days.
In the USA we have Medicare, and Medicaid for those who have small incomes! No I do not think we need a nationalized health care system – we have enough Government in our lives as it is.

Hillary's plan, is not government run, it gives the Option of government insurance, the same as Obama's does. The difference is that Hillary's covers it all. Where so many Obama supporters choose him over this issue, they need to think. Mandatory, means everyone will be covered, it will be affordable, not like it is now. Where for most, they cannot afford to pay their portion, where the employers cannot compensate as much as they have in the past. Will people be fined for not carrying it, no, but when you go to the emergency room, you will be required to sign up, and pay a few months past premiums maybe, but you will be covered and not hit with mega bills which you cant pay, and everyone else's insurance goes up cause costs go up, to cover your expense. Making it mandatory eliminates that, with 15 million not covered, it isnt solving the problem, its creating a different one, either way the costs will still go up if it is not mandatory!!! Hillary's is the only way to go, it might not be perfect but it is the best choice.

I don't have an answer directly, but I have noticed that AARP is forever sending me information that includes insurance. Since it is a membership organization, they can get group plans that make things pretty reasonable. It's at least a start in your research.
There may also be long-term plans that need to be looked into specifically, but if your real problem is covering the next five years, you need to have some idea of what she can expect to do when she is eligible for Medicare, and look for an insurance company that knows how to interact seamlessly (do the paperwork for you) to collect your benefits most efficiently. The modern thing is you have one card, and they can change things around in the computer according to what you need. You don't need to keep shopping around.
If she's generally healthy now, and has the good sense to take care of herself reasonably, she really has to figure on getting three digits together in some reasonable comfort. By the time she gets there, it will have become relatively common. Our old age statistics are going to show even more amazing improvements in the next ten years or so, as the medical improvements made for the benefit of aging Baby Boomers has its first and most dramatic effect on people who are already older, but healthy.
Lets not forget the immoral and illegal cluster fuck of a war in Iraq. When all is said and done, that little catastrophie will cost us a cool 3 Trillion, not to mention the 4,500 of our troops dead and 150,000 innocent Iraqis! So, if we can spend that kind of money needlessly, we can spend 1.6 Trillion to insure America! Don’t ya think?

Has anyone ever researched public health care programs currently in existance in Europe? I’ve just recently started to look at Germany’s program. It is supposed to be the best. I doubt if any Americans would like it. Stop listening to the rhetoric and do your own research.

these people that you claim need reform are the same ones that have driven the cost of health care up by NOT PAYING so the providers seek payment in other ways like raising the cost. Reform will do nothing to make providers give the best treatment possible to people with little or no coverage insurance. In pre-calc, you use so many theorums and formulas that you learn in trig, so it would also be good to keep all your trig notes for calculus.

Is she retiring froma company that may have something? Was her husband in the military (might be some financial advantage there depending on her income maybe in care at the VA.) H- Ins. is extremely expensive. Thus the medicare/medicaid is usually the best way to go…The MSA is kinda ok but you have to save into this and how much you got to save? I feel very sorry for our senior citiz. Understanding that…. there are orgianizations like the VFW, American Leg, DAV, AMVETS, Moose Lodge, Elks Lodges etc etc there are others that offer supplemental insurance to medicare to..If you contact them you will get infor and cost factors..of course she would have to join these orgs. in an Auxiliary capacity in order to take advantage of them..they usually cost from 12.00 to 20.00 a year for membership..They also have various kinds of grants like Cancer etc one can apply for.. Sorry couldn't be more help..I know it is frustrating…Good Luck..Trust your instincts you'll find what you are looking for..
